Grandom is by the legendary sire Grannus, producer of many successful Grand Prix horses and out of a very strong multiple Grand Prix and stallion producing dam line.
Grannus produced the international stars Top Gun, Imperial, Grannush and Grand Slam etc. With a lifetime total of well over five million DM, the offspring of this glossy black Hanoverian stallion including seven Olympic horses and more than 60 approved stallions that have made him one of the greatest sires in the world.
Grandom's Dam Domina by Domspatz, same D line of Don Carlos and Drosselklang (2001 Hanoverian Stallion of the Year), produced Grand Prix jumping horses like Doemitz/G.Wiltfang, Domschatz 24/T.Fruehman and the successful private stallions Domino, Domschatz and Celle Stallion Diskus. Grandom's Great Great Dam SPS Alsterroeschen and Domspatz had licensed son Dux Z who enjoyed International successes with Frank Sloothaak and Micheal Matz. The Grand Prix stallions Dirano and Gala Star Z are of the same dam line with Agram.
Grandom is a 16.2hh Black Registered Hanoverian that is the only Elite Hanoverian Grannus son in the North America that is fully licensed and approved for breeding by The American Hannoverian Society, The German Hannoverian verband (AHS & VhW), ISR/Oldenburg NA and the Belgium Warmblood Paardenstamboek (BWP), Canadian Warmblood Horse Breeders Association (CWHBA) & the Canadian Sport Horse Association (CSHA). Grandom is IJF and IHF Nominated.
Grandom was licensed and stood several years in Belgium before moving to Hanover, Germany. Grandom was approved for breeding based on performance and was shown and bred at the same time while in Belgium.
Grandom has won and placed from the start: Modified Division Champion at Santa Rosa, Modified division Res. Champion at Rancho Murieta, Winner Carousel Medal and Res. Almaden Medal at Rancho Murieta. Besides wins over fences Grandom was winning and placing in Hunter U/S Classes prior to retiring to the breeding shed. Grandom has a very even jumping style and a nice ground-covering trot, from the shoulder.
After the BWP evaluation of 50 of Grandom's foals, yearlings and two-year-olds. The report states that his offspring are very uniform, even though they were out of a large variety of mares. They have beautiful front ends, nice round top lines, excellent shoulder angles and very good usage of the hind end. They were well behaved and easy to handle.
From Grandom's first Hanoverian foalcrop several were selected for the Elite Hanoverian Foal Sale in Verden.
Grandom produced a Stallion son, Granny Smith who qualified for the Bundeschampionat as a 5 yr old with very good scores entering 6th out of 155. He was selected for the prestigious PSI auction in 2004 where he sold for $90,000. Several of Grandom's offspring have sold internationally as jumpers. As well, he produces talented jumping horses for the Hunter Ring.
Grandom has been very successfully bred with both TB mares as well as Warmblood mares. In 2008, the mares Ghiselle and Galapagos R both passed their Mare Performance Test and Galapagos R was excepted into the Hanoverian Jumper Breeding Program.
